University degree in Urban Planning or related discipline combined with progressive planning experience and education in a municipal environment.

A Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and a Member in the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP).

Comprehensive knowledge of municipal planning processes, the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, Growth Plan and other provincial Planning policy documents.

Knowledge of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute Professional Code of Practice.

Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), land development tracking software (e.g. Accela) and GIS.

Proven ability to work effectively and courteously with all levels of staff, external government agencies, the development community and the public, with the ability to respect confidentiality.

Highly effective interpersonal, communication, analytical, negotiation, including strong public speaking abilities.

Strong project co-ordination/management skills.

Ability to organize, shift priorities and work independently.

Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing with own vehicle to use on corporate business.

Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
