Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will: 

1. Be responsible for the planning and program delivery of private, semi-private and group tennis lessons, including feedback and evaluation of participants.

2. Be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the high-performance junior program in collaboration with the Recreation Programmer and Head Pro.

3. Plan and lead rep and high-performance classes, including direction and supervision of other coaches.

4. Provide quality customer service to participants, parents/guardians, and the general public. Respond to program feedback, enquiries, and requests promptly. 

5. Communicate and document any concerns to the Recreation Programmer (health and safety, attendance, participants, equipment, inventory, facility spaces).

6. Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance.

7. Provides a leadership role for other coaches and instructors, including support for lesson plans and coaching strategies.

1. Minimum 5 years of experience coaching groups of advanced level junior players in a club setting. 

2. Minimum 4.0 NTRP playing level.

3. Demonstrated ability to work well with children, youth, and adults.

4. TPA Certification of Club Pro 2 or higher preferred

5. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, participants, parents/guardians of participants and staff.  An energetic and positive attitude.

6. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

7. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position, a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

8. Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.

9. Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and High Five Sport certifications required.

10. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset.

Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.

Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through a WSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.
