Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will: 

1.    Lead specialized dance programs to children, youth & adults. 

2.    Ensure accurate attendance is taken at each class, and all paperwork is completed and returned to Recreation Programmer and/or Cultural Programmer
       after final session for documentation. 

3.    Develop program plans that includes equipment and supplies required and development plans. 

4.    Manage their class time and preparation time, as well as arriving on time for their program, ensuring all supplies are available and that such
       equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe condition and ensures a proper setup of their room prior to the commencement of each class.

5.    Work cooperatively and maintain ongoing and effective communication with participants, and the Cultural Programmer. 

6.    Fill out the required paperwork that deals with Health and Safety issues, accidents, incidents or facility issues and/or escalates issues as
       appropriate.

All 
1.    Excellent interpersonal, team effectiveness, communication, organizational and leadership skills. 
2.    Strong customer service and administrative skills. 
3.    Availability/flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and at different sites as required. 
4.    Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
5.    Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required (Preschool-Youth classes)
6.    Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Specialized 1 - Starting at $25.00
1.    Program delivery of children or youth general dance classes. 
2.    4 - 7 years of experience in Dance and/or Performing Arts.  
3.    1 - 2 years of dance instructing experience, including ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, etc. in a dance studio or recreation setting. 

Specialized 3 – Starting at $35.00 
1.    Program delivery of specialized dance programs for youth and adult (break dancing). 
2.    Experience in dance (break dancing) instructing and choreography development. 
3.    Ongoing education and experience in performing arts/dance.  

Specialized 4 – Starting at $40.00
1.    Program delivery of specialized dance programs for adults (e.g. ballet, jazz, hip-hop, line dancing). 
2.    Experience in course specific dance instruction and choreography development (e.g. ballet, jazz, hip-hop, line dancing). 
3.    Ongoing education and experience in performing arts/dance.  

Specialized 5 – Starting at $45.00
1.    Program delivery of specialized dance programs for adults (ballroom and Latin dance). 
2.    Experience in course specific dance instruction and choreography development (e.g. ballroom, Latin).
3.    Ongoing education and experience in performing arts/dance.  

Please Note:
1.    Rate of pay will be determined by Town of Newmarket staff based on applicant experience and/or program requirements.
2.    Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
