Job Details

Under the direction of the Business Operations Specialist, Public Works Services, the Field Asset Data Collector is responsible for performing a variety of technical office and field duties collecting, updating, maintaining and analyzing Public Works Services (PWS) asset data and other asset management infrastructure data using Geographic Information System (GIS), other databases and information management applications. Coordinates, performs research and field data collection of the various PWS infrastructure asset and locations. Provides queries and gap analysis on infrastructure, maintenance, condition, replacement and management data and develops reports, maps and presentations for use internally. 

1. Post-Secondary courses in a Public Works Services related field such as Operations, Water/Wastewater/Stormwater, Transportation, Streetlights & Construction, GIS and work experience in Public Works Services or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.

2. Significant field asset data collection using GIS applications experience in public works operations within a municipal government would be an asset.

3. Working knowledge with GIS Software such as Esri and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).

4. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

5. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a variety of personality types.

7. Ability to work independently with minimal direction or as part of a team, and to respond appropriately to any situation which may arise.

8. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, other Town departments and all levels of staff. 

9. Class “G” driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use while on corporate business an asset.
